National Company "KazMunayGas" and the Association KAZENERGY
summed up the contest of journalistic excellence, "The Power of a Pen".
In October 6 this year in Almaty in the framework of the 19th Kazakhstan International Exhibition and Conference "Oil and gas, KIOGE 2011" there took place an Award Ceremony for the winners of the Third National Contest of journalistic excellence, "The Power of a Pen."
The main goals of the Contest conducted by the National Company "KazMunayGas" and the Association KAZENERG are attracting the public attention to the achievements of the oil and gas industry of RK, increasing interest of the oil and gas companies in Kazakhstan in transparency and information openness.
Altogether, more than 200 materials were submitted for the Contest, including 8 TV and radio reporting, 5 student works, 3 photo essays, published in the national and regional media from January 1 to September 25 this year inclusively. Compared to the last year the number of materials has increased by 2 times. Moreover, almost 70% of the works submitted for the contest were submissions from the regional media.
The works were evaluated by an independent jury, consisting of Chairman of the Committee for Information and Archives of the Ministry of Communications and Information of RK Bolat Bersebaev, professor, academician of the Kazakh Academy of Journalism Namazaly Omashev, general producer of the online forum "The Center of gravity" Tatiana Bendz, a political scientist Aidos Sarym, an expert Fatima Kosaeva and others
The first time in the contest there was organized the on-line report of the working process of the jury on the sites of JSC NC "KazMunayGas» (www.kmg.kz) and the Association KAZENERGY (www.kazenergy.com).
Managing Director for the Exploration and Production (the Board member) of JSC NC "KazMunayGas" A. Aidarbayev congratulated the winners and presented them with exclusive handcrafted statuettes.
“It is important that today Kazakh journalists are paying close attention to the problems and prospects of development of the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan, professionally and promptly inform us of significant events in the life of Kazakh the oil industry workers. I think that our contest will serve as an additional incentive for journalists”, said A. Aidarbayev.
By unanimous decision of the jury for a series of publications on the subject of the oil and gas the Grand Prix was awarded to Tursyn Kalimova, a correspondent of newspaper "Aikyn" in Atyrau oblast.
In the nomination “the Best photo essay” the winner was Alma Kalusarieva, a correspondent of newspaper "Mұnayly Astana".
In the nomination “the Best Radio Programme” the winner was the Chief Editor of Radio “Shalқar” Copen Amirbek (radio program “Business zhane Halyk”).
In the nomination “the Best material in the national media” the winner was Yuri Tsai, an analyst of the Agency for Research of ROI.
In the nomination "the Best material in the regional media in the Kazakh language" the winner was Abdigalym Sarkenov, a correspondent of newspaper "Manғystau".
In the nomination "the Best material in the regional media in Russian" the winner was Igor Titenok, an editor of the “Economics” in the regional newspaper "Kyzylorda news".
In the nomination “the Best Student Work” the winner was Darkhan Zhanshin, a student of Atyrau Oil and Gas Institute, Fellow of the educational program KAZENERGY.
In the nomination "The best material on the history of the oil and gas industry" the winner was Lubov Monastyrskaya, a correspondent of Atyrau oblast newspaper “Caspian commune”.
The the incentive prizes were awarded by the jury to:
Vadim Soloviev, photographer - for a high level of professionalism and a special look,
Gulnara Kudebaeva (Tolegenova), a correspondent of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Kazakhstan," - for full disclosure and for style,
Zholdasbekov Shopegul, a correspondent of the Atyrau oblast newspaper "Egemen Kazakstan" - for the language of presentation.
The contest winners were also awarded diplomas and cash certificates.
