"As soon as the fourth refinery goes on stream, Kazakhstan will have an opportunity to export its oil products," CEO of KazMunayGas JSC Sauat Mynbayev said.

"Kazakhstan's potential markets are Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. But we will have to compete there for example with Russia's export. All these issues should be given thorough consideration. KazMunayGas, Oil and Gas Ministry and the Government focus on these urgent issues," he told a briefing at the Central Communications Service in Astana.

According to him, construction of the refinery will take 5-6 years. Currently its feasibility study is being prepared.

As stated there, modernization of three refineries, namely, Atyrau, Pavlodar and Shymkent will allow to increase their processing capacities.
