K. Tokayev spoke at the international conference on achieving carbon neutrality

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the international conference "Ways to achieve the goals of Paris Agreement and carbon neutrality of Kazakhstan", which took place on October 13 in Nur-Sultan. The President noted that the transition to a low-carbon transformation of the economy of Kazakhstan will require decisive measures, large financial costs and the consolidation of efforts of the entire society. Tokayev spoke about the large-scale gasification of the country, the potential for the development of renewable and alternative energy and "green financing", as well as measures to resolve the hydrological and environmental problems of transboundary rivers.

In his speech, Daniel Ergin, Vice President of IHS Markit, Pulitzer Prize laureate, noted that in the "National Energy Report - 2021" presented by KAZENERGY Association at the WORLD ENERGY WEEK-2021 and the XIV KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum, considerable attention is paid to the neutrality. In particular, Ergin believes that "accelerating the energy transition in Kazakhstan will require significant use of natural gas in the energy sector, along with continuous efficiency gains and full use of Kazakhstan's renewable sources."
