Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities and export potential were presented at Kazakh-Hungarian Forum

Kazakh-Hungarian Business Forum was held at Hilton Astana hotel on April 29, 2019 in Nur-Sultan city. The Forum was organized by: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, KAZAKH INVEST NC JSC and Kazakh-Hungarian Business Council supported by Atameken NCE of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Hungarian delegation was headed by Mr. Mihaly Varga, Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary – Minister of Finance. More than 150 business representatives of both countries, including 100 representatives of Hungarian business, participated in the Forum. The following foreign companies were involved: the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Hungarian Water Utility Association (MaVíz), MEDITOP Pharmaceutical Ltd, REX-SAN Kft, CH Industries Ltd, Rév Group, etc.

Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities and export potential, joint cooperation advantages and the prospects for the further promotion of trade and economic partnership were discussed at the Business Forum. We should remind that Hungary has invested about $200 mln. in the national economy over the years of our country’s independence. More than 50 enterprises with the participation of Hungarian capital are currently operating in the country. Kazakhstan-Hungary trade turnover amounted to $155.4 mln. in 2018 – 1 quarter of 2019. Exports from Kazakhstan to Hungary reached $28.2 mln. in 2018-2019. Import from Hungary to Kazakhstan amounted to $127.2 mln. in 2018 – early 2019.

Mr. Dzhambulat Sarsenov, Deputy Chairman of KAZENERGY Association, is an Honorary Consul of Hungary to the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Co-Chair of the Kazakh-Hungarian Business Council. During his speech, he noted that the Kazakh-Hungarian Business Council is one of the effective tools to stimulate trade and economic and investment relationships between the countries. He provided successful joint projects examples implemented within the framework of the Business Council. Mr. Sarsenov also noted that the prospects for cultural-humanitarian relations development are becoming wider from year to year. This fact is promoted by the historical closeness of the two peoples and their desire to revive national culture and traditions.

As part of the Kazakh-Hungarian Forum, bilateral meetings were also held between Kazakh and Hungarian businessmen to discuss cooperation in the field of energy, development of digitization, agro-industrial complex, consumer goods and food industries, construction, chemical industry and engineering.
