The Department was established to carry out the work of the secretariats of technical committees on standardization No. 88 “Oil, oil products and lubricants”, No. 89 “Technique and technology of oil and gas exploration and production” and No. 90 “Natural and liquefied gases”.
The main tasks of the Department are:

1. development of proposals on improvement of the state system of technical regulation in the oil and gas industry, as well as the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan within its competence;
2. organization of work to ensure compliance of technical regulation of the oil and gas industry to the interests of members of the Association and technical committees on standardization, the level of material and technical base, as well as the level of scientific and technical development;
3. assistance in improving the technical regulation of the oil and gas industry.
4. assistance in concluding agreements (memorandums) with international industry associations and organizations;
5. assistance in promoting efficient development and implementation of innovative projects by means of technical regulation tools;
6. participation in the formation and improvement of the standardization system in the oil and gas complex that meets the WTO and Customs Union norms;
7. coordination of activities of oil and gas companies and enterprises of related industries in the process of development of the oil and gas standardization system in the oil and gas sector.
